How To Make Your Own Archery Target
Defined Tag: Archery Target. Buying an Archery Target can be expensive. If you are just starting out you might want to consider making your own archery target. This can be achieved rather cheaply and it is quite simple to make one yourself. Before you begin find some corrugated cardboards cartons and flat foam paddings. You will also need a lot of sticky glue. Those used by cobblers for shoe sole repairs are ideal. Here are the steps to make a simple archery target: * Create a template for your target. Generally 3 feet would be a good diameter size for a template. Use the corrugated cardboard for this. Draw a circle and cut out the shape. This will serve as the diagram for your archery target. You need two of these. * Round up some old rugs or any thick cloth-like material you no longer use. Cut them into the shape and size of the circular template you have just made. * With the materials you have collected above, sandwich them between the two cardboard templates. Alternate each type of material when stacking. Pile up the materials until they're 7 to 10 inches tall. * Secure them with a generous dose of the sticky glue. * Puncture the edges of the cardboard templates with an ice pick. * Get a thick string and sew the edges together, tightly fastening the materials in between them. * You can cover the sides of the archery target with cardboard to make it look more like an archery target. (This is optional). * Prepare the target scorecard. Use a think white cardboard for this. This is how a scoring archery target looks like. * Cut out the score card and glue it to the archery target you have just made. * All that remains to be done is to build a three-legged stand that will support the archery target. The stand doesn't have to be pretty, but it must be able to support the force of the arrow traveling at a high velocity. A word of advice before you start your target practice - make sure you know what is behind and around your archery target before you shoot your bow. Archery is an engaging and safe sport if you take the necessary precautions and use some common sense.
